Advanced Leadership Learning

The Leadership Development Program is presenting the ALL (Advanced Leadership Learning) session because of its success and interest the first time it was offered.

The ALL is for those people who are passionate in discovering and advancing leadership in L’Arche; participants who have taken the LDP, Zone and Regional Coordinators, and others in L’Arche. This session will focus specifically on Emotional Intelligence.

The ALL is for those people who are passionate in discovering and advancing leadership in L’Arche; participants who have taken the LDP, Zone and Regional Coordinators, and others in L’Arche. This session will focus specifically on Emotional Intelligence.

Have you ever…

  • Replayed a conversation in your head, wishing you had said or not said something?
  • Lost sleep over a work or personal relationship?
  • Felt misunderstood? Not fairly acknowledged for your contribution?
  • Agreed to something to avoid conflict that you later regretted?
  • Felt stuck in a relationship and unsure about how to fix it?
  • Found yourself overextended and caught in a cycle of working harder and harder, unable to say no to ever increasing demands?

Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence (EI) is all about relationships. It is created and sustained in relationships, and it can be enhanced in your relationships now! Whether you're a leader, a manager, a consultant, or team member, achieving results requires the ability to work well with others in good and difficult times.

You will walk away with a greater awareness of how you interpret the world and the choices you make in relationships that help or hinder you in meeting your goals. During the session you will learn both the theory and practical usage of Emotional Intelligence and how it can benefit your personal and communal relationships.

EI is the capacity to reason about emotions, and of emotions to enhance thinking. It includes the abilities to accurately perceive emotions, to access and generate emotions so as to assist thought, to understand emotions and emotional knowledge, and to reflectively regulate emotions so as to promote emotional and intellectual growth. (Caruso, Mayer, Salovey, 2004)
