Continuing & Distance Education for Assistants

St. Francis Xavier University offer a unique professional development opportunity to L’Arche Assistants (1 + year) and other participants who are interested in building on their knowledge and skills in the area of community living and human care.

The “Diploma in Intellectual Disability Studies” is a distance learning program developed by the University in collaboration with L’Arche Canada.

Courses – Winter 2012 term (January-April) 

  • INDS 120 Relationships, Advocacy & Vision (Instructor: Dr. Anne Escrader)
  • INDS 140 Building Community (Instructor: Dr. Michael Hryniuk)

Courses start the week of January 30th, 2012

Deadline to register: January 20th, 2012

Participants have the option of taking one course without making formal application to the program.


Important Note:
If a foreign Assistant makes a formal application to the program, he/she will need a Study Permit because the program lasts more than 6 months. He/She will have to renew his/her Study Permit at the same time that he/she renews his/her Work Permit.
